  Father Peter Jankowski has ruined this fine parish. The oldest parish in Joliet has lost all semblance of it's Irish heritage. St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland, Father Pete drove the Irish out of St. Patricks. He is now disparaging the former pastor for failure to follow protocol 10 years after the retirement of the former pastor. Father Peter is airing his grievances that he has with his Bishop via the Chicago Tribune. Father Peter Jankowski is JUDAS. He has sealed his betrayal with a kiss.

  I am not a gambler. However, to "mix my metaphors" by "going out on a limb and sticking my neck out," I would bet my life that Carmelite Saint Teresa of Avila, one of an only extreme minority of women Doctors in the Roman Catholic Church, was smiling and continues to smile beamingly in heaven. Why? Because Reverend Father John Comerford, O.Carm., of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Province of Carmelites in the United States of America, returned to his home parish of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Joliet to preside at Holy Mass, and he homilized with such vitality, zest, and HUMOR that to this day--after decades of illustrious service as a reverent priest--he validates Saint Teresa's memorable plea to God: "Save us from dour saints."

  What a beautiful liturgical experience. A creative genius, Reverend Father John evoked both laughter and tears from the assembly gathered at the Saturday evening (weekend vigil) liturgy. Reverend Father John's visit was the greatest gift that I received this past Christmas season. Thank you, Good Shepherd. Thank you from the depths of my heart.
